… I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
John 10:10
How would you describe your faith experience? Is it one of coming to new life? Is it more descriptive of a personal experience or that of stories of transformation of people in the Bible or others around you? Do you see resurrection power in your life?
I think we long for something profound and abundant. I think within the human heart, we desire more than just mediocrity. In C. S. Lewis’s classic work Mere Christianity, he used a startling metaphor to describe new life in the Christian’s experience. One of the Christian coming to life.
“And that is precisely what Christianity is about. The world is a great sculptor’s shop. We are the statues, and there is a rumor going around the shop that some of us are someday going to come to life.”
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Because of sin, we have become statues. Dead in our transgressions and sin. We are helplessly trapped in our iniquity. But there are rumors that some of the statues are coming to life, some of them walking out.
